Minnesota’s Premier Wrestling Association

The Northland Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) aims to elevate the standard of youth folk style wrestling by organizing a series of tournaments that test the endurance and abilities of competitors. These tournaments, including a State-wrestling event similar to the MN State High School League, provide opportunities for wrestlers to showcase their skills and improve their level of competition. To qualify for the State tournament, a wrestler must earn a top-two finish at a District qualifier, and the top three wrestlers from the Regional Qualifier will move on to the State tournament. In the tournament, wrestlers will compete against opponents in the same grade level, with divisions for pre-school and kindergarten wrestlers, 1st and 2nd grade wrestlers, 3rd and 4th grade wrestlers, and so on up to 8th grade.

STATE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

  • Any wrestler arriving early can check in at admissions to receive a pass for early entry to watch; they CANNOT access the floor. Any wrestler who is done competing, can also check in at admission for a pass to watch as a spectator. They also CANNOT access the floor. This also applies to team wrestlers. Once a wrestler has checked in and received their pass, they will not receive another if they lose it, tear it off, etc.
  • The state and invite tournaments will be on FLOWrestling/Track.
  • All wrestlers must weigh-in at their designated time.
  • Coach passes: $25/day.  You can buy for multiple days or just one day.  Thursday and Friday are for 5-8th grade and the 7-8 team so this is considered SESSION ONE.  K-4th grade individual and K-6 teams are Saturday and Sunday; this is considered SESSION TWO.
  • Parents/students can buy daily admission for $10/day, and students and students/senior citizens are $5/day.  If staying for multiple days, a wristband can be purchased instead.  The price per day is the same but this allows you to bypass the admissions gate each day.
  • The Mayo Civic Center policy allows 1 small cooler per/athlete for protein drinks, pre-workout supplement, or any special dietary foods needed to compete. This is for ATHLETES ONLY; all friends, family, spectators, etc. are not allowed to bring in outside food, snacks, or beverages.
